السودانيون الطيبون حين يعالجون جرحهم الغائر تطل هذه الصورة الرامزة للجنرال جعفر نميري وهو يسند رأسه على كتف شقيقه الأكبر الشيخ زايد، ولا عزاء للآباء المؤسسين (فقد ذهب ذلك الزمان الوسيم مع الرجل الحكيم). أما السودانيون الملتزمون المتعلقون بأواصر الدين والوحدة والأمل والألم، فقد ذهبت أحلامهم أدراج الرياح فهذه قيم داس عليها العلمانيون بحجة محاربة الإسلام السياسي وعداء الأخوان. أما السودانيون البراغماتيون فهم يحلمون فقط بأن ترفع أبو ظبي الأذى وأن تعاملهم أسوة بالشقيقة إسرائيل. وأخيرا، فإن السودانيين الرومانسيين قد تدثروا حزانى ببيت المتنبي:
