عاش عبد القادر سالم ابن السودان الواحد بأخلاق المعلم ونداوة الفنان. كانت جغرافيا قلبه الكبير تسع كل السودان والسودانيين وكان فؤاده حقلا يضج بالأسمار والأشجار والأزهار والأطفال والبراءة والينابيع.
ويبدو أن هذا القلب المترع بكل فضائل الخير والسماحة والجمال لم يحتمل المأساة، التي كسرت قلب كردفان الكبير، وحطّمت كبرياء السودان، ذلك البلد الطيب المعتدل المعافى، الذي أحبه عبد القادر وعاش له نغما وفكرا وقدوة.
رحل عبد القادر بزهده المعهود، وأخلاقه الفيّاضة بمعاني السمو والصداقة. كان جسرا للتواصل لكل أبناء السودان غربا وشرقا، شمالا وجنوبا. رحل عبد القادر سالم وفي مشاعر السودانيين (قدريشنة) و(ليمون بارا) و(مكتول هواك يا كردفان.. مكتول هواك انا من زمان) والفارق كبير يا عبد القادر بين مقاتل العشاق ومقاتل المرتزقة والأوغاد.

The Bleeding Camera
Abdel Gader Salem lived as a son of a single, united Sudan, carrying the ethics of a teacher and the tenderness of an artist. The geography of his vast heart embraced all of Sudan and all Sudanese; his soul was a field alive with acacia trees, forests, blossoms, children, innocence, and flowing springs.
It seems that this heart—brimming with the virtues of goodness, generosity, and beauty—could not withstand the tragedy that broke the great heart of Kordofan and shattered the pride of Sudan, that gentle, balanced, and wholesome country which Abdel Gader loved, lived for, and served through melody, thought, and example.
Abdel Gader departed with his familiar asceticism and an ethics overflowing with nobility and friendship. He was a bridge of connection among all the sons of Sudan—west and east, north and south. Abdel Gader Salem has gone, yet in the feelings of Sudanese people remain “Qadrishna,” “Lemon Bara,” and “Maktoul Hawak Ya Kordofan… Maktoul Hawak Ana Min Zaman.” And the difference is vast, Abdel Gader, between a fighter of lovers and a fighter of mercenaries and scoundrels.
