أكمل الأطباء العملية الجراحية لأحد المواطنين في مستشفى إحدى مدن الشمال بضوء الهواتف النقالة بعد الانقطاع المفاجئ للتيار الكهربائي. هاتفني ابن الرجل مشيدا بجهد الأطباء الذين أنقذوا والده وهم يتصببون عرقا في أقسى حالة يمر بها طبيب ومريض. قال لي بنبرة هي مزيج ما بين الحزن والغضب (لماذا تصر عصابة دقلو المجرمة على هذا الاستهداف الممنهج لمحطات الكهرباء في كل أنحاء السودان كأنما هنالك تواثق بينها وبين الممول الأجنبي بأن يواصلوا مخططهم البغيض في تعذيب الأبرياء في بلادنا؟). قلت يا صديقي إن الظلاميين والظلم والظلام وخفافيش الخرائب والسكاكين الطويلة في ليلة الغدر والعتمة كل هذه الموبقات هي حلف واحد، ولكن متى كان في مقدور التتار القدامى والجدد أن يحجبوا وجه الشمس عن الضياء؟ ومتى كان في مقدورهم أن يطفئوا نور الله؟ والله مُتمٌّ نوره ولو كره الكافرين والمتوحشون والظلاميون.

Doctors completed a surgical operation on a citizen in a hospital in one of the northern cities by the light of mobile phones after a sudden power outage. The man’s son called me, praising the efforts of the doctors who saved his father while sweat poured from them, in one of the harshest situations a doctor and a patient can endure. He spoke to me in a tone that was a mixture of sorrow and anger:
“Why does the criminal Dagalo gang insist on this systematic targeting of power stations across Sudan, as if there were some tacit agreement between them and a foreign backer to continue their despicable plan of tormenting innocent people in our country?”
I said to him, my friend, the forces of darkness, injustice and gloom, the bats of ruin, and the long knives in the night of treachery and pitch darkness—all of these abominations are one alliance. But when have the ancient and modern Tatars ever been able to block the face of the sun from its light? And when have they been able to extinguish the light of God? God will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers, the savages, and the forces of darkness detest it.
