*الأسلوب الأنيس في مخاطبة الرئيس*

الأخ الفريق أول عبد الفتاح البرهان، القائد العام ورئيس مجلس السيادة، السلام عليكم.
إن خير الحديث ما قَلَّ ودَلَّ، فأنت رجل عودت الناس على الصراحة والمواجهة وانتقل معك الشعب صبراً من نظرية الحفر بالإبرة إلى الحفر بالبوكلين.
إن الأخبار التي تصل موثقة من جبهة المعارك أخبارٌ مطمئنة ومفرحة، ولكن الأخبار التي تصل من الخرطوم مزعجة ومحزنة، فقد انتقل النهب المسلح من الصحاري إلى الحواري (وأنت سيد العارفين بالجاني وبالضحية). والشعب في هذه المرحلة الحرجة في تاريخ بلادنا لا يُطالبك قبل إعلان الانتصار الكبير إلا بالماء وبليلة المُباشِر، والأمان والهيبة. أما فوق ذلك ودونه على أهميته فيعتبره هذا الشعب الصابر ضربا من الكماليات.
واعلم يا سيادة الرئيس أن الرحلة طويلة، وعندما تكون الرحلة شاقة وطويلة فإن الحذاء المتين يظل أبداً أشرف من الحذاء الجميل.

The best words are those that are brief yet meaningful. You are a man who has accustomed people to frankness and confrontation, and the Sudanese people have endured with you a transition from the theory of “digging with a needle” to digging with an excavator.
The news reaching us from the battlefronts, when verified, is reassuring and encouraging. But the news coming from Khartoum is disturbing and distressing. Armed looting has moved from the deserts into the neighborhoods — and you, more than anyone, know who the perpetrator and the victim are. At this critical stage in our country’s history, the people are asking you for little, before the announcement of the great victory: water, barefoot walking [a colloquial reference to a basic necessity], security, and a sense of authority and dignity. Anything beyond that — and anything less, despite its importance — is regarded by this patient people as a kind of luxury.
And know, Mr. President, that the journey is a long one. When the journey is difficult and long, a sturdy shoe will always be more honorable than a beautiful one.
